The Macon-Bibb Parks and Recreation Department was established in 1911, as the Macon Playground Association. In the 1950’s the Association merged with the Park’s Department to form the Macon Recreation and Parks Department. In 1969 the Department became known as the Macon-Bibb County Parks and Recreation Department in order to service the entire county. The Department is charged with the responsibility of management and development of parks and recreation facilities and services for all citizens of the City of Macon and Bibb County.
